At the heart of VeloConcerts beats a simple ambition: to bring culture, music, and discussion into public life in a way that’s sustainable, accessible, and spontaneous, free from the ecological burden of traditional concert logistics.

That ambition found its first expression in 2019, when the idea for the VeloStage was born. It was conceived by Danish born, Vienna based musician Jonas Skielboe, after nearly two decades of performing, when he came to terms with how environmentally costly and cumbersome typical event setups often are.

Jonas joined forces with Austrian designer Jakob Illera (INSEQ Design) to bring the concept to life. Their shared goal was to transform a standard e-cargo bike into a fully autonomous concert stage, one that folds out quickly, carries its own power and sound system, and can be ridden anywhere.

The first functional VeloStage rolled out in summer 2019. Since then, the design has been honed through real-world use at festivals, street concerts, and pop-up events, a process that has involved pedalling thousands of kilometers, countless hours of concerts, fairs and talks, and glowing feedback from delighted clients, artists and audiences across the globe.

The VeloStage is a compact, full-featured stage built onto an E-cargobike. When deployed, it transforms into a professional performance platform complete with high-quality sound and lighting, all powered by batteries. Thanks to a “plug and play” philosophy, the setup is fast and reliable: the stage unfolds in just a few minutes, and no complicated infrastructure is needed.

Despite its compact form, the VeloStage is versatile. It can host solo acts, small bands, DJ sets, spoken-word performances, public talks, even panel discussions, and is suitable as much for intimate outdoor street concerts as for indoor festivals and fairs.

Because the entire setup is carried on a bike and runs on clean energy, our events are fully net-zero, making us an eco-friendly alternative to concerts relying on trucks, diesel generators, or heavy logistic chains.

Beyond practicality, the VeloStage embodies a philosophy: Culture should be mobile, fluid, and inclusive. It offers a platform for art, music and discussion to be brought to new spaces, parks, plazas, street corners, riversides, making performances more spontaneous and accessible to new audiences.

At VeloConcerts, we’re always cycling ahead. Every season teaches us something new, every event shows us another possibility, and every collaboration nudges us forward.

We’re constantly reflecting, refining, and exploring what mobile culture can become. New stage formats, smarter power solutions, more flexible platforms, and ways to bring performances into unexpected places, all of that is part of the road ahead.

VeloConcerts will always continue asking one central question: how can we keep lowering the barriers to culture, making it lighter, greener, and more accessible? We’re not done - not even close. The journey is still ongoing, and we’re excited to keep building and see what unfolds.
